Nametag is an identity verification company. It says it provides “integrated identity verification and account protection solutions” for workforce and customer accounts.
Its products verify the person behind an account during helpdesk calls, password and MFA resets, hiring and onboarding, and, through Nametag Signa, AI agent actions. Verification runs on the user’s mobile device and is checked by the company’s Deepfake Defense engine, which Nametag says counters digital injection attacks and AI-generated deepfakes.
The products connect to identity providers including Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, Cisco Duo and OneLogin, and to helpdesk and HR tools such as ServiceNow, Zendesk, Workday and Greenhouse. Nametag states its mission as “to protect every account on the internet”.

What Nametag Does
Nametag addresses the risk that an attacker impersonates a real employee or customer to take over an account, for example by calling the helpdesk to request a password or MFA reset. The company describes workforce verification for hiring, onboarding and account recovery, and verification that the company says helps “Protect customer accounts and improve their support experiences”. The portfolio is built around one verification flow: a person scans a government-issued photo ID and takes a selfie on a mobile device, the Deepfake Defense engine checks the capture, and Nametag binds the verified person to the account being claimed. That result is then reused by helpdesk agents (Nametag Copilot), by self-service recovery (Autopilot), by HR teams (Recruit and Onboard, combined as Nametag Hire) and by AI agent approvals (Nametag Signa).
Products
Nametag Copilot (helpdesk Verification)
Nametag describes Copilot as “our out-of-the-box helpdesk verification solution”. The help centre states setup takes “10 minutes or less with zero integration or API work”.
- Agents send verification requests through existing support channels
- Results update automatically for helpdesk agents
- Intercom integration writes pass or fail results back to the conversation
Autopilot (self-Service Account Recovery)
Autopilot lets organisations “safely deflect employee account recoveries to self-service”. Locked-out employees are sent to a branded recovery site “powered by Nametag”.
- Per-directory permissions for password resets, MFA device resets, both or neither
- MFA reset removes registered methods including authenticator apps, physical keys and passkeys
- Webhooks when an account is recovered; “Imposters are detected, blocked, and surfaced to your team”
Nametag Hire (Recruit And Onboard)
Recruit, announced on 21 May 2026, checks that job candidates are real people and the same person at each hiring stage, with a pass or fail result. Onboard extends the verified identity into day-one device and access setup. An earlier onboarding product, VerifiedHire, was announced in February 2025.
- Native Workday and Greenhouse integrations for Recruit
- New hires set their own password and enrol in MFA after verifying
- ID details matched to legal name and birthdate on the account record
Deepfake Defense
Nametag describes Deepfake Defense as the identity assurance engine behind its products. Nametag says it combines cryptography, biometrics and AI.
- Cryptographic Attestation using “hardware-backed keystore assurance and secure enclave technology”
- Spatial Selfie, where “depth maps and other advanced sensors” confirm “liveness, and presence”
- AI models that detect IDs “printed or presented on a screen”
How It Works
| Component | What it does |
|---|---|
| Verification request | Admins send requests through support channels, trigger them automatically, or point users to a self-service microsite hosted on a custom domain via a DNS CNAME record to nametaghosted.com. |
| Mobile capture | The user enters a work email, scans a QR code and verifies with a photo ID and a real-time selfie. Nametag says it uses the cryptographic security of Android and iOS so captures come only from the device camera. |
| Account Binding | Nametag confirms the verified identity matches the claimed account. Returning users can reverify with a selfie through Express Reverification, based on Selfie Chaining, which the company covered with U.S. patents announced in March 2026. |
| Directory sync | Nametag connects to each directory with provider credentials and syncs hourly, or receives accounts by SCIM from Okta. |
Identities And Systems Covered
| Workforce users | Employees verified for helpdesk support, password and MFA resets and onboarding |
|---|---|
| Job candidates | Applicants verified through Recruit before hire |
| Customers | End users verified to protect accounts and support |
| AI agent actions | The human behind an AI agent sign-in or sensitive action, through Signa |
| Directories | Entra ID, Okta, Cisco Duo and OneLogin for self-service recovery |

Agentic AI Capabilities
Nametag Signa
Introduced at Oktane 2025 on 24 September 2025, Signa is described as “a new way to protect AI agents against misuse”. It covers two cases: Nametag acting as the MFA factor when a person signs in to an AI app, and Nametag verifying “the human-in-the-loop” before an AI agent’s sensitive action proceeds. Deepfake Defense produces “cryptographically-attested proof of the human identity behind an AI action”, while “Okta acts as the policy engine”. Nametag says the approach aligns with emerging standards such as Model Context Protocol, Agent2Agent and Agent Payments Protocol.
Availability
Signa is “Initially available for Okta”.
