Understanding Nuix

Nuix builds investigative analytics and intelligence software for legal teams, regulators, investigators and privacy officers who need to make sense of large volumes of unstructured data. Its software reads email, documents, chats, media and forensic files, then helps people find the facts that matter in them.

Everything runs on the Nuix Neo platform, so evidence processed once can serve eDiscovery, privacy and investigations work without being collected and processed again for each team.

What Nuix Does

Organisations hold evidence and sensitive information in many formats spread across devices, mailboxes and file shares. Reviewing it by hand is slow, and different teams often process the same data several times for different purposes.

Nuix addresses this with a single processing foundation. Data is read once and then reused by legal, data privacy and investigations teams, each working through a solution with pre-built workflows and live dashboards. The aim is that a regulator, a forensic examiner and an eDiscovery reviewer can all work from the same processed, auditable copy of the evidence.

Products

Nuix Neo

Nuix Neo is the platform the other solutions build on, with components for sourcing, processing, automation, orchestration and visualisation. Its patented engine reads more than 1,000 file types at the binary level, including corrupted or encrypted files. On top of that engine, teams automate ingestion, extraction, classification and redaction, coordinate tasks and AI models in one governed pipeline, and reuse expert workflows across cases. Visualisation shows connections across people, organisations, accounts, transactions and communications.

Nuix Neo For Data Privacy

Privacy and compliance teams use this solution when they must find personal data quickly, for example after a breach or when a subject access request arrives. It locates confidential and sensitive information such as PII and intellectual property on connected and remote devices, then redacts and deduplicates it. It supports breach response and notification as well as FOI, FOIA and DSAR workflows, using models pre-trained to detect privacy information.

Nuix Neo For Investigations

Government agencies, law enforcement, regulators and corporate investigators use Neo for Investigations to work through emails, chat messages, call logs, documents and media from many cases at once. Relationship mapping links entities across separate cases and shows which suspects are most influential in a network. Investigators and digital forensic specialists can collaborate on the same material in real time, and AI classifies and adds context to the data as it is processed.

Nuix Neo For Legal

Neo for Legal covers eDiscovery from preservation through to production, so legal teams and service providers can run a matter with one vendor. Users train and tune the models themselves through no-code AI, and Nuix eDiscovery for Microsoft 365 extends the workflow to Microsoft 365 content. Nuix reports a 64% reduction in data volumes across its cases.

Nuix Discover

Nuix Discover is the document review application, built on Cognitive AI (CogAI). More than 500 pre-built models categorise, tag and enrich documents as they arrive, and First Pass Review scores, prioritises and explains each document against the reviewer’s criteria. Semantic search and Continuous Active Learning help reviewers reach relevant material sooner.

Nuix Workstation

Nuix Workstation is the forensic processing tool for examiners who need a consistent, repeatable process that holds up to forensic scrutiny, with all evidence in one view. Its Data Finder extension adds more than 180 identifiers for locating specific kinds of information.

Adaptive Security

Adaptive Security watches machine and human behaviour on endpoints in real time to catch insider threats, whether intentional or accidental. A patented programmable logic engine triggers automatic action when risky events occur. It follows departing and privileged users closely, captures screenshots and files as evidence, and can block removable media.

Enterprise Collection Center

The Enterprise Collection Center automates collection from laptops, desktops, enterprise file shares and Microsoft SharePoint sites. Collections can be pre-filtered by document type, custodian and timeframe, which keeps the volume passed to processing down, and the target file system can be previewed remotely first.

Linkurious

Linkurious is a graph-powered AI decision platform. Investigators use it to explore graph data visually, spot patterns of interest and work through alerts that involve relationships between people, accounts and transactions.

How It Works

The design is layered: one processing engine feeds automation, AI and visualisation, and every solution draws on the same processed data. Nuix Neo offers full data sovereignty and a choice of deployment. Nuix Discover is available as SaaS with elastic capacity, and Adaptive Security runs on a cloud-native architecture, with evidence movable to cloud or on-premises locations.

Data flows in from connected and remote devices, is read once at the binary level, and an audit trail is recorded at the moment of processing. Automation then runs tasks and AI models in sequence, with dependencies, routing and exception handling, before results reach the review, investigation or privacy solution.

Agentic AI Capabilities

AI sits in three tiers above processing: Cog AI for deterministic, explainable results, Gen AI for systematic analysis and an agentic tier for conversational questioning. That top tier is the Neo AI Agent. Users ask questions in plain language and the agent answers with each claim linked back to its source document, so findings can be checked. It runs on a Generative AI Framework with guardrails, spend caps, access controls and full logging, so administrators can limit what the agent spends and who can query which data, and review every exchange afterwards.
