Understanding Ovalix

Ovalix is an AI security and governance company. It gives security teams visibility and control over how their organisation uses AI, from public generative AI apps used by employees to homegrown AI applications, coding agents and autonomous agents, so that AI can be adopted without leaking data or handing agents more autonomy than they need.

The problem is speed: employees and developers take up AI tools faster than security teams can track them, so data leaks and over-privileged agents appear before anyone has set a policy.

What Ovalix Does

That fast adoption creates exposure to data leakage, malicious prompts, shadow AI and regulatory non compliance. Ovalix organises its answer by where AI runs: third party services employees use, applications the organisation builds itself, autonomous agents in business operations, AI tools in software development, and AI apps on employee devices. The same model of discovery, monitoring and real time policy enforcement applies in each place, so one set of rules can follow AI wherever it appears, and security teams can approve AI use instead of blocking it outright.

Products

Public GenAI Apps

This product is for security and compliance teams dealing with shadow AI, the chatbots and AI services staff pick up without approval. It continuously discovers unauthorised AI tools and gives end-to-end visibility of user requests, model responses and data flows. Sensitive data such as a Social Security Number can be redacted before it leaves, unsafe requests can be blocked, and third party AI applications are assessed for security, compliance and data exposure, with risk reports to support adoption decisions.

Homegrown AI Apps

Organisations building their own AI applications use this product to protect them from data leaks, model tampering and adversarial attacks. It tracks user inputs, model behaviour and data flows inside each app, prevents unauthorised access to sensitive data during AI interactions, and blocks malicious requests and unsafe outputs in real time. Policies cover prompt injection, excessive agency and malicious actions.

Agentic AI

Agentic AI is aimed at businesses running autonomous agents in critical operations. It follows each agent task from start to finish and maps every decision along the way, so guardrails and compliance checks apply at each step and security teams see what data agents use and what they connect to. It counters excessive agency, where an agent holds more permissions or autonomy than its task needs, by blocking actions the agent is not authorised to take.

Coding Agents

Development teams adopting AI coding assistants get a view of how those agents are used across teams and what is being shared with them, including API keys, secrets and other sensitive information. Ovalix identifies every AI tool and connector in use, enforces policy on the tool interfaces agents call, and checks that developers work through sanctioned business AI accounts rather than personal ones.

Employee Endpoints

On employee devices, Ovalix builds a software inventory of AI apps, coding agents, MCP servers and AI agent skills, then tracks their activity and interactions over time. Security teams can control what each AI tool can access and which actions it can take, guarding against prompt injection, sensitive data exposure and malicious MCP servers.

How It Works

One policy set applies across all five product areas, whether the AI in question is an employee tool, an internal app or an agent.

DiscoverInventories AI use wherever it runs.
DetectWatches requests, responses, agent decisions and data flows in real time.
Govern and PreventApplies the organisation’s rules and blocks or redacts in line with them.

Rules are written as a policy document in which each risk carries an action, for example an alert for excessive agency or a block for prompt injection and malicious actions.
