Understanding Penti

Penti is a penetration testing as a service (PTaaS) platform that pairs autonomous testing agents with certified human pentesters. It is built for software companies and security teams that need regular, evidence-backed pentests across their whole estate rather than an annual test of a few assets, and that want the results to feed compliance work and engineering fixes directly.

The gap it fills sits between slow, expensive manual pentests and automated scanners whose findings nobody has checked. Penti is operated by Certypie Inc.

What Penti Does

Most organisations test only a slice of what they run, so large parts of the estate are “assumed secure, not tested.” Penti’s agents map and test everything in scope and show which assets an attacker could actually reach. A certified pentester can then check any finding before the customer acts on it, and exploits are confirmed without damaging production systems. Teams can run point-in-time pentests and ongoing testing from one place, so coverage keeps pace with how often their software changes.

Products

AI Penetration Testing

The core service suits teams that need pentest evidence quickly and often. AI agents handle scoping, scanning and prioritisation, while human testers look at complex business logic flaws and chained exploits that automated tools tend to miss. Reports rank the risks and include remediation guidance, and manual supervision is part of every package.

Attack Surface Management

Attack surface management gives continuous visibility from a central dashboard. It finds unknown or unmanaged assets, forgotten cloud resources and untracked subdomains, ranks risks by their business sensitivity and visualises the attack paths that link them.

Pentest Types

Beyond the agent-led service, Penti runs web app, API, mobile, internal and external network, cloud, IoT and red team engagements, plus manual penetration testing and OWASP Top 10 testing. Dedicated compliance pentests cover ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI DSS, HIPAA, CMMC, GDPR and NIST.

LLM Application Testing

For products built on large language models, Penti maps the model’s attack surface, tests how the LLM handles user input inside web apps to find indirect prompt injection, and checks how the model calls APIs to uncover risks such as unauthorised function calls. Human testers add model fuzzing, black and white box testing and adversarial input crafting.

How It Works

Each test run moves through four stages: Preflight, Discovery, Pentesting and Finalizing. Testing works through five layers, from the perimeter and external edge, through the application surface, internal network and identity and privilege, to data and crown jewels.

ComponentWhat it does
Rules of engagementScope control, verified ownership of targets, non-destructive validation and a full audit log. Tests are safe to run in production, and staging environments are also supported.
Human validationCertified consultants review agent findings, verify impact and carry out controlled manual testing before results are finalised.
ReportingEvery finding comes with the attack chain used to confirm it, its business impact, a code-level fix and compliance evidence.
