Understanding Polymer

Polymer is a data security company that protects sensitive data as it moves through SaaS applications and AI tools. It gives security teams one place to see where sensitive information sits in chat, storage, code and ticketing apps, and to stop it leaking.

The product is aimed at organisations where employees and AI agents now work side by side in everyday tools, so customer records, secrets and regulated data can leak through a message, a shared file or a prompt.

What Polymer Does

Sensitive data no longer sits only in databases. It is pasted into Slack threads, attached to support tickets, committed to repositories and typed into ChatGPT, and AI agents now handle it too. Polymer’s mission is to give runtime visibility and control of that data to keep risk low.

Polymer connects to the applications themselves and acts on the data inside them in real time, treating people and AI agents as identities governed by the same policies. It scans millions of data assets every day.

Products

Polymer DSPM

Polymer DSPM is the core platform, for security teams that need to know where sensitive data lives in SaaS and AI tools and who can reach it.

Identity-aware policiesHuman and non-human identities are grouped together to manage access to AI tools
ClassificationData in motion and at rest is detected, classified and tagged according to custom policies
Risk scoringHighlights shadow AI use, insider threats and misconfigurations
Automated enforcementRedacts sensitive data, revokes file access and triggers workflows
Employee responseReal-time training and response when a user breaks policy
Compliance logsAudit logs mapped to HIPAA, SOC 2, CCPA and GDPR

Cloud DLP

Cloud DLP is for teams that want to stop data leaving through everyday apps without blocking work. It redacts or deletes sensitive data posted in chat tools, blocks commits that would expose it in code repositories, and limits sharing from storage platforms. Pre-built policy templates for HIPAA, PCI, SOC 2 and CCPA shorten set-up, and employees see a warning at the point of violation so they learn what not to share. The same DLP extends to the use of AI tools such as ChatGPT, and SecureRAG applies it to retrieval-augmented AI workflows.

How It Works

Polymer runs as a cloud service or as a self-hosted single tenant deployment, with role-based access controls for administrators.

Polymer connects to each SaaS and AI tool and scans the objects inside it: files, messages, pull requests, commits, issues, emails, display names and pages. Context mapping is applied during classification to cut false positives. When a policy is violated, remediation runs in line with existing workflows, optionally after human review, and regular scans refresh the risk scores per platform and per employee.
