Runta is an infrastructure startup building an execution layer for AI agents: a runtime that sits between autonomous agents and the systems they act on. It is aimed at companies that want to put agents into production without handing them raw credentials, open network access or an unlimited budget.
The goal is to give those teams the infrastructure and guardrails to deploy and manage autonomous agents safely at scale.

What Runta Does
Agents that are given real credentials and a network connection can do real damage. A rogue agent can run up a bill or break a system it was never meant to touch. Runta targets four sources of that waste and risk: wasted tokens, idle compute, raw credentials and open network egress.
Its answer is a stateful operating system for agents. Agents get the abstraction they want, a computer, with security controls built in. Founder Guanlan Dai’s view is that developers should decide which files an agent may open and how much it can spend at any one time, and the runtime should enforce those decisions.
Products
Runta Runtime
Runta Runtime is a secure runtime for teams running agents in production who need to contain what each agent can do and what it costs.
| Credential brokering | The model gets an isolated runtime instead of raw credentials, and Runta brokers access on its behalf, so the agent never handles secrets directly |
|---|---|
| Policy enforcement | Real-time policies over operating system, network, file-system and credential access, which closes off open network egress |
| Spending caps | Each agent has its own cap, preventing runaway token and compute costs |
| Token reduction | Oversized tool output is shrunk without dropping what the agent needs |
| Audit log | Every action an agent takes is recorded, so a team can review afterwards exactly what happened |
How It Works
Each agent runs in its own isolated environment, placed between the agent and the systems it acts on. That environment is a stateful operating system that can run locally or in the cloud. Because every request for a file, a network destination or a credential passes through the runtime, policy is applied at the point of action rather than inside the agent’s own code.
Runta is rebuilding the execution layer specifically for agents rather than offering another sandbox cloud. Developers work with it through security and policy interfaces: they set what each agent may reach, and the runtime brokers credentials, enforces those limits and logs each action for audit as the agent works.
Identities And Systems Covered
| AI agents | Autonomous agents running inside the isolated runtime |
|---|---|
| Credentials and secrets | Brokered by the runtime rather than held by the agent |
| Files and file systems | Access limited per agent |
| Network | Egress controlled by policy |
| Compute and tokens | Spending capped per agent |
