Understanding Scrive

Scrive is a European company that makes electronic signature, digital identity and contract management software. It helps banks, retailers, telecoms operators and other organisations sign agreements, check who their customers are and manage contracts online, in line with EU rules such as eIDAS.

Its focus is regulated, customer-facing processes, where an agreement is only as good as the proof of who signed it. Scrive ties signatures to verified national electronic identities, so the same transaction answers both questions.

What Scrive Does

Most agreements still end with a printed page or a scanned signature, and regulated businesses also have to prove who signed. Scrive covers the whole agreement lifecycle on one platform designed around European compliance: collecting data and signatures, confirming identity through national electronic IDs, applying qualified signatures where the law requires them, and managing contracts before and after signing. Identity and signing share the same infrastructure, so a business does not have to stitch a verification provider to a separate e-signature tool. Data is hosted in the EU, and Scrive is itself a Qualified Trust Service Provider (QTSP).

Products

Scrive ESign

eSign helps organisations remove the last paper steps from their processes and improve the quality of the data they collect. It comes in four forms:

eSign OnlineWeb-based e-signing.
eSign GOA system-agnostic managed service for store networks and offices.
eSign APIEmbeds e-signing in the customer’s own systems.
Fill-and-sign web formsCollect data and signatures in one step.

Scrive QES

Scrive QES issues qualified electronic signatures under eIDAS, for agreements that need a higher level of assurance than a standard e-signature. A global version, Scrive QES Global, is also available through eID Hub.

Scrive EID Hub

eID Hub gives organisations one API for many national eIDs It is for teams that need to verify new customers, authenticate returning ones and add signing to their own systems across every channel, without building a separate connection to each scheme. It is OpenID Connect certified, and an age verification endpoint returns only true or false against a set age threshold, so no other personal data is shared.

ID Check

ID Check gives support and sales agents instant proof of identity while they talk to a customer. It is a stand-alone tool that works alongside any system, in all channels.

Contractbook By Scrive

Contractbook by Scrive manages contracts across their lifecycle, before and after signing, so the agreements collected through eSign and QES can be stored and administered in the same portfolio.

How It Works

Scrive products run as online services, used directly or integrated through APIs.

ComponentWhat it does
eID HubConnects a customer system to many national eID schemes through a REST API or OpenID Connect.
ID CheckAn agent starts the verification and sends the customer a link by phone or email. The customer identifies with an eID, and the agent gets an instant success or fail result with the customer’s personal information.
eSign APIPlaces e-signing inside the customer’s existing systems, so documents are sent and signed without leaving the business application.

Identities And Systems Covered

Scrive verifies and authenticates human customers, signers and employees through national and commercial electronic identities:

NordicsBankID (Sweden), Norwegian BankID, MitID and MitID Erhverv (Denmark), Freja eID, Freja OrgID, FTN with Finnish BankID, and Mobile-ID.
Baltics and BelgiumMobile-ID and Smart-ID.
Benelux and DACHIDIN, itsme and Verimi.
UKOneID.
Other methodsScrive QES Global, PIN by SMS and Onfido identity verification.

Agentic AI Capabilities

The Scrive MCP server lets organisations put AI agents to work on their agreements.

Verified identity and signaturesAgents combine generative AI with verified identity and eIDAS-compliant signatures, drawing on eID Hub and eSign rather than a separate stack.
AI assistantsThe server works with assistants including Claude, Gemini, Mistral, Slackbot, ChatGPT, Harvey and Copilot, with a dedicated Claude integration.
