Understanding Secureframe

Secureframe makes compliance automation software for companies that need to prove their security to customers, auditors and regulators. It connects to the systems a business already runs, collects audit evidence automatically and keeps checking controls between audits, so security and compliance teams spend less time on screenshots and spreadsheets.

It is used by companies earning a first certification to win enterprise deals as well as by organisations running several frameworks at once, including those selling to government and defence.

What Secureframe Does

Reaching a certification such as SOC 2 or CMMC, and then staying compliant, involves a large amount of repetitive work: gathering evidence, writing policies, assessing risk, answering customer questionnaires and preparing for auditors. Secureframe automates as much of that cycle as possible. Integrations pull evidence from cloud, identity, HR and endpoint systems and monitor it continuously, so failing controls surface as they happen rather than at audit time. Policies, risk records and answers to customer questionnaires draw on the same evidence, so what a company tells a buyer matches what its auditor sees.

Products

Secureframe Comply

Comply is the core platform for teams running one or more compliance programmes, covering SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, PCI DSS, GDPR, NIST, CMMC 2.0, FedRAMP and AI frameworks such as ISO 42001 and the NIST AI RMF. It brings evidence collection, continuous monitoring, policy management, risk management and audit preparation into one place.

  • Automated evidence collection and control monitoring through integrations
  • Automated documentation and policy management
  • Custom integrations and custom automated tests for systems not covered out of the box

Secureframe Trust

Trust is for sales and security teams that spend too long on security questionnaires and RFPs. Its Trust AI for Questionnaire Automation drafts answers from the information already held in Comply and from a knowledge base of earlier responses, so answers stay consistent with the company’s actual controls.

Secureframe Defense For CMMC

Defense for CMMC is aimed at defence contractors that must meet CMMC and NIST 800-171 requirements to keep government work. It includes a CMMC enclave, an SSP builder and SPRS scoring, along with Defense Navigator and Secureframe Federal MDM for managing devices in scope.

How It Works

Secureframe is a hosted platform. Customers connect their systems through more than 300 prebuilt integrations, which “syncs with hundreds of the tools you’re already using to automate evidence collection and continuous monitoring”. Where a tool has no prebuilt integration, the Secureframe API and custom integrations fill the gap.

ComponentWhat it does
Hosted MCP serverSecureframe runs the MCP server itself, so nothing is installed on the customer side. Separate regional endpoints serve US and UK workspaces. Most clients sign in with OAuth, which leaves no key or secret to generate or store; others can use an API key and secret.
Expert supportA team of more than 30 in-house compliance experts and former auditors works with customers alongside the software when preparing for audits.

Identities And Systems Covered

Workforce identitySingle sign-on and identity providers including Duo, FusionAuth, Google Cloud Identity and Google Workspace, used to check user access controls.
EmployeesHR systems such as ADP Next Gen, RUN Powered by ADP, ADP TotalSource and AAP iSolved, used for onboarding and offboarding evidence.
EndpointsDevice management and endpoint security tools including AirWatch, Addigy, Crowdstrike and Datto RMM.
Cloud accountsAmazon Web Services, AWS GovCloud (US), Microsoft Azure Cloud and MongoDB Atlas.
AI assistantsMCP clients, which receive permission-aware access to compliance data.

Agentic AI Capabilities

Comply AI

Comply AI adds AI help to the routine tasks inside Comply:

RemediationGenerated infrastructure as code fixes for failing cloud controls.
RiskFrom a short risk description, it produces an inherent risk score, a treatment plan and a residual risk score.
PoliciesAn AI text editor for drafting and revising policies.
Third-party riskSuggested answers extracted from vendor documents such as SOC 2 reports.
Control mappingMachine learning suggestions for mapping controls to frameworks and risk assessments.

AI Evidence Validation

AI Evidence Validation reviews uploaded evidence files before an audit and flags gaps such as missing documents or outdated timestamps.

Hosted MCP Server

The hosted MCP server lets Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor or another MCP-compatible assistant work with Secureframe data under the user’s own permissions. It supports the same write actions as the API, including creates, updates and deletes, and each tool is marked as read or write so administrators can see what an assistant is able to change.
