Understanding Sentra

Sentra is a data security company that finds and classifies sensitive data across cloud, on-premises and SaaS environments and shows which people, AI agents and copilots can reach it.

Security, privacy and data teams use it to cut excess access, keep sensitive data out of AI tools that should not see it and feed accurate classification into the controls they already run.

What Sentra Does

Most organisations cannot say with confidence where their sensitive data sits, let alone who can open it. That gap widens once AI agents and copilots are connected to file shares, warehouses and SaaS apps, because an agent inherits whatever access it is given. Sentra discovers and classifies the data, maps who and what can reach it, and helps teams reduce that access to what is needed.

All of Sentra’s solution areas share one discovery and classification engine. That shared picture of sensitive data is what the other controls in a customer’s stack then act on.

Products

AI Security

AI Security is for teams that need to know which agents, copilots and models are in use and what data each one can reach. It builds that inventory and keeps it current, including shadow AI that was never formally approved, and extends the same controls to Google Workspace Gemini and, through Shadow AI DLP, to unapproved AI applications.

Data & Access Governance

Access sprawls as people change roles and agents are granted broad service permissions. Data & Access Governance turns that sprawl into least privilege for both people and agents. Selecting an identity shows every piece of data it can open and the sensitive classes involved, a live reachability map shows which identities reach which data, and Adaptive Permissions Sizing recommends how far permissions can be cut.

Next-Gen DLP And Insider Risk Management

Next-Gen DLP right-sizes agent permissions and monitors usage and prompts, so sensitive data is not leaked into AI applications. Insider Risk Management watches for agents that are misconfigured, compromised or acting outside their purpose, and flags them early.

Privacy Operations

Privacy teams need to show whose personal data AI systems touch. Privacy Operations answers that question and produces the audit evidence regulators and auditors ask for.

Cyber Resilience And Storage & Cost Optimization

Cyber Resilience makes sure the data AI depends on is backed up and can be recovered quickly. Storage & Cost Optimization finds stale and duplicate data so it can be retired before agents find it, which also lowers storage costs.

Sentra For Microsoft 365 Copilot

This product is for organisations rolling out Copilot that worry it will surface files people should not see. It:

  • Discovers and classifies sensitive data across SharePoint, OneDrive and Teams
  • Maps who has permission to every file holding sensitive or critical data
  • Applies Microsoft Purview Information Protection sensitivity labels automatically
  • Finds and fixes missing or wrong labels, working with Microsoft Purview DLP for Copilot

How It Works

Sentra is agentless, needs no connectors and scales to petabytes of data.

  • Scanning in place. Data is scanned within the customer’s environment and is never copied out of it.
  • Metadata only. Sentra uses only metadata for its analysis and reporting.
  • Results out. Classification signals and findings are sent to the alerting, ticketing, SIEM and governance tools listed under Integrations.
