Understanding Sharelock

Sharelock is an identity threat detection and response (ITDR) company. Its platform watches how human and non-human identities behave across on-premises and cloud systems, spots misuse such as privilege abuse or lateral movement, and investigates and contains incidents automatically. It is built for security teams, especially in regulated European organisations, that need to protect privileged accounts, service accounts, API keys and AI agents.

The product is built in Rome under GDPR and aligned with NIS2, DORA and the EU AI Act, which matters to buyers who need identity data to stay in Europe.

What Sharelock Does

Most organisations now have far more service accounts, API keys and AI agents than people, and these non-human identities tend to be over-privileged and barely watched. Attackers who take over one of them can move quietly, because the activity looks like normal automation. Sharelock’s answer is to bring human and non-human identities into one view across on-premises and cloud environments, and to judge every identity by its own normal behaviour.

The work is split into prevent, detect and respond, with one engine across all three. The platform sits on top of existing identity, PAM and SIEM tools as an extra intelligence layer, so customers do not have to replace what they already run.

Products

Identity Security Posture Management

Posture management is for identity and security teams who want to remove risk before an attacker finds it. It continuously maps the identity graph across on-premises Active Directory and multi-cloud environments, finds weaknesses, enforces least privilege and monitors identities across the hybrid estate in real time.

  • Automated hygiene for misconfigured accounts, orphaned privileges and shadow admins
  • Visibility of hidden admin rights, dormant privileges and non-human identities such as API keys and AI agents
  • Automatic revocation of unused privileges, clean-up of orphaned accounts and dynamic MFA enforcement

Identity Threat Detection

Threat detection helps SOC teams catch identity attacks without drowning in alerts. An unsupervised learning engine builds a behavioural baseline for every human and non-human identity and flags departures from it, rather than relying on static rules.

  • Authentication anomalies such as impossible travel
  • Authorisation anomalies such as scope creep
  • Resource access anomalies such as data exfiltration
  • Real-time detection of lateral movement and privilege escalation, with the path mapped as it unfolds
  • Insider threat analysis down to individual transactions and queries
  • Session monitoring after access is granted, across multi-cloud and proprietary legacy systems

SIA, Security Investigation Autopilot

SIA is for teams that cannot investigate every identity alert by hand. Its agents aim to “close the case, not just the alert”: SIA takes in the alert, correlates signals across the identity estate, maps the attack path and runs the remediation. It examines every identity and system an incident touched and gathers the context automatically, then contains the threat by isolating the account, revoking sessions or enforcing MFA. Every action is logged, explainable and tied to role-based access controls, which gives auditors a ready trail. Investigations take a reported 31 seconds.

How It Works

A single agentic AI engine runs continuously across prevention, detection and response. Three kinds of input feed its central data collection engine: account activity logs, identity system activity and identity context. Its outputs go to IAM and IGA provisioning, Active Directory and PAM, and SIEM, SOAR and ticketing systems.

ComponentWhat it does
Data collectionThe engine gathers activity and context from connected identity systems, including CyberArk and the customer’s SIEM and SOAR.
Behavioural analyticsUnsupervised machine learning learns the environment and watches the whole session after access is granted, not only the login.
ResponseSIA investigates and remediates, pushing actions back to provisioning, directory, PAM and ticketing systems.
Legacy connectorsCustom banking applications, homegrown treasury systems and mainframes connect through agentless Node-RED integration.
Data residencyData stays in the EU, with no exposure to the US Cloud Act. Identity controls, anomalies and remediation actions are logged and packaged as audit-ready evidence, which supports NIS2 and DORA work at EU financial firms and essential entities.

Identities And Systems Covered

Human usersEach human identity gets its own behavioural baseline
Privileged accountsContinuous discovery, monitoring and protection of privileged and service accounts, including those that cannot use MFA
Service accounts and service principalsInventoried with owner, rotation status and privilege level
Secrets and API keysTreated as non-human identities, with secrets rotation after a compromise
AI agentsTreated as non-human identities that can be isolated if compromised
Workload identitiesIncluded in non-human identity coverage
Directories and identity providersActive Directory, Entra ID and Okta
CloudAWS and other cloud environments, including cloud entitlements
Legacy and business systemsProprietary legacy systems, custom banking applications, treasury systems and mainframes

Agentic AI Capabilities

No-Code Agentic Processes

Users can build any number of agentic processes from the interface without code or engineering effort. Each action stays traceable to the signal that started it, and automating these steps cuts investigation time by a reported 80 per cent.

Non-Human Identity And AI Agent Response

For non-human identities, SIA revokes compromised credentials, starts secrets rotation and isolates compromised agents. Detection also covers living-off-the-land techniques (attacks that use legitimate built-in tools), which can signal a compromised service account or AI agent.
