SHINOBI is an autonomous penetration testing system from Shinobi Security (Shinobi, Inc.). It uses AI agents to run on-demand, authenticated pentests against web applications, APIs, mobile apps and AI agents, so security and engineering teams can test far more often than a periodic manual engagement allows.
The problem it addresses is the gap between releases and tests: applications change every week, while a manual pentest is booked a few times a year and is out of date soon after the report arrives.

What SHINOBI Does
Traditional penetration tests are slow to schedule and quickly out of date. SHINOBI replaces the booking cycle with testing on demand, and it chains individual weaknesses together to reach the critical bugs a single check would miss.
SHINOBI is one testing system rather than a set of separate modules. A single AI reasoning engine drives testing on every platform, with no separate mobile mode. Tests run against logged-in applications with MFA switched on, which lets them reach the parts of an application that unauthenticated scanners never see.
Products
Shinobi Autonomous Pentesting
The core product is for teams that need regular, realistic testing of the applications they ship. It covers:
- Web applications, tested through a real browser with JavaScript execution and session management
- REST APIs, GraphQL and gRPC services
- Android apps (APK) and iOS apps
- AI agents that an organisation deploys, tested as another attack surface
Once a fix is in, findings can be retested straight away rather than waiting for the next engagement.
Authentication Support
Many serious flaws sit behind a login, so SHINOBI handles the sign-in methods real applications use. It supports authenticator apps based on TOTP, email OTP codes, SMS verification codes and magic links, as well as single sign-on through Okta, Azure AD, Auth0, OneLogin and other SAML or OIDC providers.
Test account credentials are entered in a guided setup wizard and held in secure credential storage. Teams can supply one role or several, and each role is tested independently to find privilege escalation paths and broken access boundaries between user types.
Reporting
Different readers need different views of the same results, and SHINOBI produces two:
| Executive Risk Summary | Risk posture scoring, trend lines across test cycles and business impact analysis |
|---|---|
| Technical Findings Report | Reproduction steps, proof-of-concept exploits and code-level remediation guidance |
How It Works
Customers work in a hosted application at app.shinobi.security, where they define targets, add credentials and follow results.
- AI testing engine. AI agents reason about the target and run the tests. The engine validates, scores and documents each finding as it is discovered. Confirmed findings show up in the dashboard within minutes, and reports update while testing is still running.
- Mobile runtime. For mobile testing, the customer uploads the APK or iOS binary and Shinobi’s AI agents install the app, interact with it at runtime, intercept its API traffic and test its business logic. Shinobi runs this environment itself, so customers need no emulator, device farm, proxy or jailbreak.
- Outputs. Results are available as interactive web dashboards, downloadable PDFs and JSON or CSV exports. Read-only report links can be shared with access controls and expiry dates.
