Specular is a security platform that maps an organisation’s attack surface, works out which vulnerabilities an attacker could actually exploit and guides the fix. It is built for security teams that run on-premises and hybrid networks and that are tired of acting on long lists of findings ranked only by generic severity scores.
The platform relies on specialised AI agents, so the same system can find an exposed asset, prove the risk, hand the remediation to the right owner and track it to resolution.

What Specular Does
Exposure management usually suffers from fragmented tools and datasets, inventories that go stale, and severity ratings that say little about whether an issue can really be used against the organisation. Specular puts discovery, validation and remediation into one multi-agent platform. Agents simulate attacker behaviour, so prioritisation rests on proven exploitability and impact rather than CVSS scores or theoretical severity. Each finding is then tied to internal business context, so it reaches the person who owns the affected system with steps that fit that system.
Products
Specular Platform
The Specular platform is the company’s single product. It discovers assets across the external attack surface, including shadow IT and short-lived cloud services, and validates which vulnerabilities are exploitable, giving proof, impact and steps to fix for each. Findings are enriched with internal context from CMDBs, cloud metadata and internal documentation, and with threat intelligence on what threat actors are doing in the wild.
Attack Surface Management
Attack surface management is for teams that need an accurate, current picture of everything they expose to the internet, including what subsidiaries, acquisitions and forgotten projects have left behind. Specular analyses the external attack surface from the outside in, across on-premises, cloud and third-party infrastructure, continuously enumerating internet-facing systems and exposed services.
Continuous Exposure Management And External Testing
For organisations adopting continuous threat exposure management (CTEM) as a programme, agents run the CTEM lifecycle continuously instead of as a periodic exercise, and remediation agents translate confirmed exploits into tickets that engineering teams can act on. The same agentic workflows probe internet-facing systems the way an attacker would, giving teams a continuous alternative to periodic manual penetration tests.
How It Works
Specular runs as a modular, multi-agent framework with large language models at its core. It collects data across hybrid networks by connecting to scanners and APIs. Supported environments include the external attack surface, major cloud providers, traditional and hybrid infrastructure, and Microsoft-heavy stacks built on Windows Server, Entra ID and Azure.
Work passes through four kinds of agent in turn:
| Component | What it does |
|---|---|
| Recon Agents | Map environments and find assets to keep inventories current. |
| Exploit Validation Agents | Replay requests, parse metadata and confirm exploitability through response analysis, using CMDB context to link findings to assets and filter out noise. |
| Deep Research AI agents | Review findings to confirm exploitability and relevance before they reach the security team. |
| Playbook Agents | Generate remediation steps for specific systems and send them into ticketing and chat tools. |
Agentic AI Capabilities
Retrieval Augmented Generation
Specular applies retrieval augmented generation (RAG) to an organisation’s internal knowledge stores. Agents query sources such as the CMDB, internal wikis and cloud providers, for example ServiceNow tickets, Azure networking rules and SharePoint asset owners, to work out who owns a vulnerable asset and how it should be fixed.
Cited Answers
Answers generated by Specular AI carry citations through LLM grounding, so analysts can check where each statement came from rather than taking an agent’s conclusion on trust.
