Sumsub is an identity verification and compliance platform for regulated businesses. It helps them check who their users and business customers are, keep watching for fraud and money laundering after onboarding, and meet KYC, KYB and anti-money laundering rules across “the whole user journey”.
It is aimed at regulated companies, crypto businesses among them, that must know their customers before and after onboarding, and increasingly by businesses whose users send AI agents to act for them.

What Sumsub Does
Regulated companies have to verify identities at sign-up and then keep checking, because fraud and financial crime often appear later in the customer relationship. Sumsub’s approach is to run every stage on one platform, from the first screening check to ongoing monitoring, so a customer’s risk picture builds up in one place, from sign-up onwards, instead of being split across separate vendors for each step of the relationship. Compliance teams configure verification flows, risk scoring and AML settings themselves, in natural language.
Products
Screening
Before a customer is accepted, compliance teams need to know whether the business is real, whether contact details and devices look trustworthy, and whether the person appears on a sanctions or PEP list. The screening products cover Global Business Check, email and phone verification, Device Intelligence, questionnaires, and watchlist and PEP screening.
Verification
This is the core of the platform for onboarding. User Verification and ID Verification check documents against the person presenting them, Liveness and Deepfake Detection stops spoofed or synthetic faces, and Business Verification handles KYB. Non-Doc Verification, Address Verification and Video Identification suit markets and cases where a document check alone is not enough. Reusable KYC Share, Reusable KYC Gateway and Sumsub ID let a user verify once and reuse that result across platforms, and QES adds qualified electronic signatures.
Monitoring
Once customers are onboarded, Transaction Monitoring and Crypto Monitoring flag suspicious activity, and the Travel Rule product handles the data-sharing obligations for crypto transfers between providers.
Infrastructure
Case Management and Workflow Orchestration give analysts one place to review flagged users and decide outcomes. Risk Scoring, Fraud Networks and Customizable Analytics show patterns across the customer base, and Summy AI Copilot helps teams explore verification and monitoring data.
How It Works
Sumsub is a hosted service with two integration paths.
| Component | What it does |
|---|---|
| SDK integration | A code-free route through the Web and Mobile SDKs. The customer creates a verification level, adds an applicant data step, runs verification and handles the results. |
| API integration | The customer creates a verification level, creates an applicant by passing the level name as the levelName parameter, and requests a check through the pending status endpoint. |
| Verification levels | Levels set which steps and fields an applicant must complete. Workflow Automation can send SDK applicants to standard document verification as a fallback, and API users can move applicants between levels. |
| Coding agents | Developers can also integrate Sumsub with the help of coding agents such as Cursor, Claude Code or Copilot. |
Identities And Systems Covered
| Individuals | User, ID, liveness, address and video identification checks. |
|---|---|
| Businesses | Business Verification and Global Business Check for KYB. |
| AI agents | AI Agent Verification binds agents to verified human identities. |
| Reusable identity | Reusable KYC and Sumsub ID for verification that travels between platforms. |
| Countries | KYC coverage for markets including the UK, USA, Germany, Brazil, Singapore, Japan, South Korea and South Africa. |
Agentic AI Capabilities
AI Agent Verification
AI Agent Verification is “designed to establish human accountability for automated actions by binding agents to verified identities.” It tells apart verified humans, automation acting for a verified user, and anonymous or fraudulent activity, which gives businesses a basis for limiting agent actions, stepping up checks and keeping clearer audit trails.
Know Your Agent For MCP
The Know Your Agent module for MCP screens every agent request and strips personal and other sensitive data before it reaches the agent. For flagged or high-value actions it can trigger a real-time liveness check to confirm an authorised person is behind the request, and it keeps a log of what each agent asked for and did.
Agentic Payments
Through Sumvin, AI agents can make purchases and manage financial accounts for KYC-verified users, using the KYA framework and Reusable Identity suite.
