Swimlane is a security automation company. Its Turbine platform combines AI agents with rule-based automation so security operations teams can build detections, investigate alerts and run response workflows without handling each one by hand. It serves large enterprises, federal agencies and managed security service providers.
The problem it tackles is scale: alert volumes keep rising while analyst numbers do not, and regulated organisations still have to show how every decision was made.

What Swimlane Does
Not every alert needs the same treatment. Turbine handles this through intelligent routing: each alert goes to the right level of automation, whether a deterministic playbook, an AI-assisted investigation or a fully agentic one. Every AI decision can be explained and every action is logged, which matters for regulated customers who must show how a conclusion was reached. The same engine supports work outside the SOC, such as employee offboarding and insider threat response, so one platform carries both deterministic and agentic automation across the security organisation.
Products
Swimlane Turbine
Turbine is the core platform that playbooks, agents and cases run on. Teams design workflows and agents in Turbine Canvas, a low-code building studio, and track investigations in an AI-driven case management application they can customise. Dashboards, reporting, multi-tenant operation and co-branding support both in-house teams and service providers, and pre-built connectors let Turbine integrate with any API.
AI SOC
AI SOC applies the routing model to day-to-day alert handling. Customer-defined detections let teams run their own detection logic against large volumes of data, closing gaps that vendor tools leave. AI detection and response looks for AI-related risks that security products may not alert on, and a version tailored to MSSPs is also available.
Security Solutions
Three applications extend Turbine beyond alert triage:
| Vulnerability Response Management | Coordinates patching and remediation work. |
|---|---|
| Compliance Audit Readiness | Gathers the evidence auditors ask for. |
| Business Continuity Management | Organises continuity planning and response. |
How It Works
Turbine is offered as a hosted cloud service or installed on-premises, including in air-gapped environments.
| Component | What it does |
|---|---|
| Turbine Cloud | The hosted service runs as a cloud-native deployment on EKS, with API layers and secure data orchestration. |
| Platform Installer | The route for on-premises and air-gapped installations, with its own upgrade guide. |
| Turbine MCP Server | Exposes Turbine to AI tools and, together with External MCP Tools, lets Hero AI connect to AI tools in both directions. |
| Turbine Marketplace | The catalogue of 500+ connectors and 2500+ pre-built SecOps playbooks used to build integrations and workflows. |
Agentic AI Capabilities
Hero AI
Hero AI builds applications, playbooks and ingestion sources from a plain description, asking clarifying questions and reporting progress as it works. The company reports that it can reduce mean time to respond by 75%.
Agents
| Playbook Generator Agent | Builds or changes playbooks from plain-language prompts. |
|---|---|
| Intelligent Visualization Agent | Produces reports and visualisations described in plain language. |
| Ingestion Agent | Connects new data sources on the fly. |
| Deep agents | Use MCP and step-by-step reasoning for harder investigations. |
| Expert agents | Handle specific skills-based tasks. |
Model Choice And Oversight
Teams pick the AI model for each agent, including their own, with support for Anthropic and selected Bedrock models. Any state-changing action not already trusted to automation needs explicit human approval. Analysts can pause, reject or roll back recommendations, and the reasoning chain can be exported for audit.
