Understanding Sysdig

Sysdig is a cloud security company that protects cloud environments, containers, Kubernetes and AI agents by watching what is actually running. Security and platform teams use it to detect and stop attacks in progress, decide which vulnerabilities and permissions matter because they are live, and cut cloud identities back to the access they really use.

The problem it tackles is noise: cloud security tools report far more issues than any team can fix, and most of them are not reachable by an attacker. Sysdig’s answer is a cloud-native application protection platform (CNAPP) built around what workloads are doing in production.

What Sysdig Does

Cloud security tools often produce long lists of misconfigurations and CVEs with no sense of which ones an attacker could use today. Sysdig starts from runtime: activity from running workloads shows what is active, exposed or open to exploitation, and that context is combined with posture data to separate real risk from noise.

The same runtime view drives prevention, detection and response, so a team can see an attack in progress, trace the permissions and vulnerabilities behind it and fix the cause from one place. Monitoring data from the same environments supports troubleshooting and cost control.

Products

Sysdig Secure

Sysdig Secure is the CNAPP for teams protecting cloud-native workloads. Its main modules are:

Cloud detection and responseDetects, investigates and responds to threats at cloud speed
Vulnerability managementFinds and manages vulnerabilities across workloads and images
CIEMTracks inactive or unused permissions, inactive users and high-risk policies, and can generate least-privilege policies from observed usage
Cloud Identity InsightsSpots early signs that an identity may have been compromised
Cloud Attack GraphCorrelates assets, activity and risk to reveal attack paths

Sysdig Monitor

Sysdig Monitor handles cloud and Kubernetes monitoring, troubleshooting, alerting and cost optimisation. It is fully Prometheus compatible and offers a managed Prometheus service, so teams can keep their existing PromQL queries and Grafana dashboards.

Falco And Falco Feeds

Falco is an open source runtime threat detection project that Sysdig created and contributed to the CNCF. Falco Feeds adds enterprise detection rules for organisations already running Falco.

How It Works

Sysdig is delivered from SaaS regions, and on-premises deployment is also offered. It combines runtime activity from running containers, Kubernetes and workloads with cloud configuration and audit data.

  • Runtime data. Activity is collected from running containers, Kubernetes and workloads.
  • Cloud audit log analysis. For CIEM, cloud audit logs are correlated with users, roles and policies to build a picture of who uses which permissions.
  • Headless delivery. Beyond the console, capabilities are exposed through plug-ins, MCP services, command line interfaces and APIs, so they can be used from Slack and from AI coding agents.

Agentic AI Capabilities

Headless Cloud Security

Headless cloud security packages Sysdig’s capabilities as programmable services for AI coding platforms and agent-driven workflows, without a traditional dashboard. Coding agents such as Claude Code, Codex and Cursor can call them through MCP services, CLIs and APIs.

Sysdig Sage And Sysdig Secure AI

Sysdig Sage is an AI cloud security analyst inside Sysdig Secure that carries out multi-step investigation, prioritisation and remediation. Sysdig Secure AI extends this into a coordinated team of AI security experts that work from runtime telemetry.
