Veriff provides online identity verification for businesses that need to know their customers are real people, and real companies, before letting them in. It checks identity documents, biometrics and databases across more than 230 countries and territories, and it keeps checking at later points such as account recovery and high-risk transactions.
It is built for high-growth online brands, such as marketplaces, rental platforms, dating apps and gig economy services, that need verification to perform well for genuine users and not just to satisfy compliance. Its core models are built and trained by Veriff on its own data.

What Veriff Does
Fast-growing online services face a constant trade-off: every extra onboarding step loses genuine customers, while every weak check lets fraudsters through. Veriff aims to make verification quick enough that legitimate users barely notice it and thorough enough to catch forged documents, deepfakes and synthetic identities. The approach is one trust platform for people and companies alike, so the same identity established at onboarding can be relied on for every later check rather than verified again from scratch, and fraud signals from one session can inform the next.
Products
Identity Verification Platform
This is Veriff’s flagship product, used when a business needs to confirm a new customer’s identity and documents in a matter of seconds. It covers document and identity verification, proof of address, intelligent document processing and database checks, with a reported average decision time of 6 seconds, accuracy of around 99.6% and a forensics database of more than 12,500 documents in 50 languages. Assisted Image Capture warns users in real time about poor lighting, glare or a cropped ID, and automatic document detection recognises the document type and adapts the interface, which cuts failed attempts.
Biometric Verification And Authentication
Once a user has been verified, the harder problem is proving that a later login or account recovery really comes from them. Biometric authentication handles that with a fresh selfie, matched against the enrolled identity.
- Selfie-based account recovery
- Step-up authentication that raises the level of checking when risk is higher
- Passive liveness detection that confirms a real person is present without extra steps
- Age Estimation from a selfie, without an ID document
AML Screening And Know Your Business
Regulated firms must screen customers and business partners. AML screening checks individuals against politically exposed persons, sanctions lists and adverse media, with ongoing monitoring. KYB cross-checks companies against global commercial registers and business databases and screens their directors and shareholders, and both can be combined with Veriff’s KYC checks in one flow.
Fraud Protect
Fraud Protect adds machine-learning checks and fraud network mitigation for teams dealing with organised or repeat fraud.
- DeviceCheck analyses device and network signals for risk
- CrossLinks uses document, device, network and behavioural indicators to link related sessions
- FaceCheck looks for signs of physical or digital manipulation in the selfie
- Detection of synthetic IDs and deepfakes early in the session
How It Works
Veriff runs as a hosted service that customers build into their own onboarding and authentication journeys. iOS, Android, mobile web and web SDKs handle the user-facing capture, and the Veriff API supports server-side integration, so users can verify on whichever device they prefer.
A session starts when the user submits a document image and a selfie through the SDK. The checks then run on Veriff’s side, with the fraud engine scoring every session in the background, and a decision is returned to the customer’s system. For authentication that decision is allow, deny or a request for additional verification. Returning users enrol once, through an identity verification session or an enrolment selfie, and later authenticate with a new selfie. The customer’s fraud team reviews the risk signals behind each decision in Veriff Station.
