Verimatrix protects digital content and the apps that deliver it. Its customers are broadcasters, pay TV operators, streaming services and app publishers that need to stop piracy of premium video and keep their mobile apps from being reverse engineered or tampered with.
The problem it addresses is revenue lost to piracy and to apps that are cloned, modified or attacked once they leave the store.

What Verimatrix Does
Premium movies and live sports are prime targets for piracy, and the apps that play them are often the weakest link. Verimatrix applies protection at every stage of delivery, before content reaches the client device, and then traces leaks once content is out. Its approach is to protect the video stream and the player app as one, with studio-approved content security on one side and shielding of the app binary on the other. The same app protection serves publishers outside media, including financial and healthcare apps.
Products
Streamkeeper
Streamkeeper is the suite for streaming services that want content security and app protection from one source. It brings together three components, each also sold on its own, and adds automated countermeasures when piracy is found:
| Multi-DRM | Delivers premium content securely to many device types without playback problems |
|---|---|
| Watermarking | Traces a pirated stream back to its source so countermeasures can curb the abuse |
| Counterspy | Finds content leaks at distribution level and shuts down illicit sources, which matters most for live events where a stream is only valuable while it is happening |
VCAS
VCAS, the Video Content Authority System, is for operators running IPTV, OTT and DVB networks. It handles content authority for evolving networks and comes pre-integrated with billing, encoding, middleware and application vendors, which shortens head-end projects.
App Shielding
App publishers use the shielding products to stop attackers reverse engineering or tampering with Android and iOS apps.
| Obfuscation | Layered protection applied to mobile apps |
|---|---|
| Code Shield | Patented, automated tools that deter and confuse attackers |
| Key Shield | Protection for algorithms and for building secure cryptographic architectures |
| Threat detection | Detection of suspicious events across the app ecosystem |
How It Works
| Component | What it does |
|---|---|
| Content protection chain | DRM, watermarking and leak detection work across the delivery path, from the head end to the client device. |
| App protection | Shielding is applied to the app itself before release, so protection travels with the binary onto the user’s device. Once the app is in use, threat detection reports suspicious events from across the app ecosystem back to the publisher, and the customer stays in control of how to respond. |
| Leak response | When a pirated stream is found, watermark tracing identifies its source and countermeasures are deployed against it, automatically where Streamkeeper is in place. |
| Head-end integration | VCAS sits in the operator’s head end alongside billing, encoding and middleware systems. |
